About the Artist
Jerry Adder

Self-taught sculptor and painter
Member of The Visual Artists Association (BKF)

Jerry Adder’s sculptures are carved directly from Italian and Greek marble without using sketches or models. Rather, the forms emerge through the process of carving, which, like an archeological dig, reveals fossil-like creatures that seemingly reach back towards the late Italian renaissance even as a contemporary, sensuous expression is explored.

Historically and stylistically, Jerry Adder’s role models and sources of inspiration come from high renaissance artists such as Michelangelo whose artistic themes can be characterized as a battle between life and death.

The borderland that transcends physical realism in a metaphysical reality with religious mythology and archetypical figures inspires Adder’s choice of motifs and expression.
